Homeland Security tests system which knows when you’re even thinking about committing a crime
The Future Attribute Screening Technology (FAST) security programme is designed to catch people who are planning to carry out acts of terror. This system measures physiological factors such as heart rates and eye movements. So anyone thinking about committing an act of terror or maybe even someone who is nervous about flying could be in a whole lot of trouble when passing through an airport.
Trials of this new technology have already been carried out by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a secret area of North-eastern America. This system does not require active questioning of anyone. The technology relies on non-contact sensors, so can measure indicators while somebody is walking along.
So just how accurate is this new system? The DHS claims accuracy rates of around 70% in lab tests though they are still analysing results and are planning further tests.
But psychologist Tom Ormerod, of Lancaster University in Britain, says this role-playing may not be representative of real terrorists.
He has also suggested people will react differently when they know they are being tested.

I have to say this is some of the most disturbing technology that has emerged out of the entire “homeland security” industry. I’d rather not have cameras watching me and attempting to read my thoughts while assembling a psychological profile, off of which they might falsely accuse or arrest me of a crime I never even committed.
