Obama and the Nobel Peace Prize: Occupation Now!

The time has come to occupy Barack Obama’s much trumpeted Peace Prize.
No man can make war in the name of peace and then keep that fabulous – if already somewhat tarnished – bauble.
Not even if you were Franklin Roosevelt, and he cut quite a few capers in the war game business in his time.
Obama was given the prize because he is black and comes from an Islamist background. He was an entirely untested commodity who relied entirely on a vapid kind of charm and general reaction against Bush Junior to get himself elected.
True, in the run up to his election he spoke a great deal about the virtues of peace, although I for one never believed a single word of it.
He sounded about as sincere as a salesman for a new brand of washing powder, “Yes folks, now hear this! New Peace powder is the best thing since the ten cent collar. Want your clothes cleaner and softer, smelling of violets? Then New Peace is the ticket for you. And me too, if you don’t mind ticking this little box here…”
I expected him to bend over before all the Usual Suspects: Wall Street, the corporations, the financial-industrial-total surveillance industry, Pentagonia, the CIA, Israel, the post-Hearstian media barons, the American Enterprise Institute and the entire massed neocon gang bang.
I expected him to renege on torture, Guantanamo Bay, America’s network of secret global prisons, re-engagement with the Islamic World, and the formal end of the Cold War.
I expected him to prolong the conflict in Iraq and expand the perpetual war in Afghanistan. I was absolutely certain that he would not fail to start new wars and so he did. In Libya, through the proxy disguise of NATO.
Pakistan is waiting for the first bomb to fall (aside from the scores of drones which have already killed hundreds of bystander citizens).
American special forces (which means the privatized dogs of war called contractors) are inflicting horrid new miseries on the Sudan, a non-country haunted and tortured by hunger, drought, crop failures, and a more or less total collapse of what might be loosely described an economy.
This is a country whose promise and future has been destroyed by malignant war lords and their cohorts trained and armed with American weapons.
Still not enough. In the name of peace more innocents – the elderly, the sick, starving children with bulging bellies that signify extreme hunger – must perish ‘to keep America safe.’
Now it is the turn of Yemen in the fabulous hunt for the Philosopher’s Stone of terrorism: the phantom Al Qaeda.
Yemen is a desolate sand pit not one in one hundred thousand Americans could find on a map.
Now it is the new Killing Ground (U.S. citizens sentenced to death by a secret White House Stalinist panel not excluded).
Of course these conflicts are invariably proxy or surrogate wars, which brings me to remind you of the recent and very important change at the big wigwam known as the Pentagon.
For 60 years it was a granted axiom of American militarism that the CIA acts as the Praetorian Guard of the sitting president, but no more.
The powerful and secretive Special Operations Command (SOCOM) has not only expropriated that role, but rivals the CIA with an enormous operational command center at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.
SOCOM agents are involved in seventy or so overseas locations (not necessarily with the consent of local sovereign governments) performing targeted assassinations, counter-terrorist raids, long-range reconnaissance, snatching of terrorist suspects (who are then incarcerated at twenty top-secret jails dotted around the globe), false flag bombings and shootings.
This up and coming sprite is now big enough to push weight in the Pentagonian high command, with its own seat at the council of Big Chiefs known as the Combined Chiefs of Staff.
SOCOM may call on 60,000 “operatives” (notice the subtle avoidance of “personnel,” which suggests standard old-fashioned military types) and a burgeoning budget to pay for high-end, New Age warfare weaponry, including mind reading psycho-weapons and cloaking technologies straight out of Star Trek.
The component elements include the Army Special Forces and Rangers, Navy Seals, Air Force Air commandos, and Marine Corps Special Operations teams, in addition to Army PSYOPS, specialized helicopter crews, boat teams and back up from so-called contractors reveling in the great swamps of Black Warfare.
The barren analysis of SOCOM’s commander, Admiral Eric Olson, confirms America’s barbarian descent into Mars-like madness of permanent war, “I am convinced that the forces… are the most culturally attuned partners, the most lethal hunter-killers, and most responsive, agile, innovative, and efficiently effective advisors, trainers, problem-solvers, and warriors that any nation has to offer.”
God help us all.
True, Obama did not himself invent the privatization of war. We may thank Bush One and Two for that. But he has allowed it to run totally out of control.
The militarization that follows rampant imperialism is rapidly destroying the US economy. The only significant activity that is now pursued in the manufacturing sector is making weapons of war, which are then supplied to people whose minds are not filled with kindly thoughts.
America’s schools of excellence are filled with boffins feeding off this, that, or the other government meal ticket, dreaming up weapons that blast your ears drums away, blind you permanently with lasers, read your thoughts ten miles off or just turn your brain into Jello.
The late Seymour Melman of Colombia University called this warped state of affairs Permanent War Socialism.
He also said that when New York City issued a tender for new subway cars, there was not a single American manufacturer with the talents to reply.
Dear God in Heaven, even the NYPD is armed with tanks and drones these days.
The fact that this maddened war machine has occurred on Obama’s watch is no surprise at all.
This is what the tiny gaggle of New World Orderists who manipulated the election ordained that he should do.
Now whether Obama knew this was the agenda all along is question that I cannot answer. Someone out there for sure knows the answer but it isn’t me.
What I am absolutely sure of is that he was the perfect material, the Manchurian Candidate who would obligingly bless the state of permanent war, pursued by aggressive materialism and militancy, in order to cow the entire planet. One is seized by the impression of Obama the Spectator in Chief.
Now we turn to the Soft War which has no lesser role in destroying our lives and the entire planet.
During Obama’s turn in the wheel-house, the U.S. Constitution has been thoroughly and repeatedly sodomized.
The formerly fiercely guarded First Amendment rights are now regarded by the ruling elites as a form of treason.
One could write virtually forever on the Orwellian theft of every American’s right to privacy and human rights (another set of treacherous words, by the way).
Only an average of 13% of Americans think the Congress is doing their job properly
General David Petraeus, a soldier who failed to win a war anywhere (but is the darling of the neocons) is now sitting in civilian clothes at the CIA.
A wild old war hog is in charge of the Pentagon. From thence he issues blood-curdling encyclicals to the troops venerating war as a glorious sacrifice, a duty and an honor in the temples of the nation.
This is very close to hailing the virtues of war as indeed some form of human sacrifice.
I have already said in a previous post that what we are seeing in the United States today is a rolling military putsch.
People suspect this (not only Americans by the way) but see themselves as powerless to halt the juggernaut.
There is only one way to express the glowing global distrust of militarism throughout the western armed camp, the starting of wars simply to fight them and in the process reap obscene profits.
And that is a global petition demanding the return of Obama’s Peace Prize, a clear historic signal that enough is enough.
